―about fade

fade, the one and only rock band from Japan in pursuit of becoming a contemporary frontrunner of an eclectic and unrivaled melange of east and west, was formed in New York in 1991, and made its debut in Japan in 2002.
rui (Ds), the leader of the band, kansei (G), and noriyuki (B) was raised in New York, spent their childhood years exposed to the American frontier spirit. On the other hand, Jon Underdown, the vocalist, experienced the beautiful culture and Bushido, the samurai spirit, in Japan as an exchange student from Seattle.
Four cosmopolitans, bound together by the magic of the God of music, luckily met an unique talent 5°(G), and got together to jump into the international music scene as a true borderless artist beyond nationalities, genres, and generations.

Working with eminent artists such as Markku Lappaleinen (ex. Hoobastank), and Erik Gregory (programming engineer, credited in Linkin Park's remix album Reanimation) led to the release of 2 Eps, "A Moment of Truth" and "Under The Sun" in 2005. The track "Beautiful" from "A Moment of Truth" was showcased in the nationally acclaimed film "Rainbow Song," produced by Japanese cinema icon Shunji Iwai (Swallow Tale Butterfly, Picnic, etc.) in 2006.
The band tranfers to the current management company in 2008.
After the release of the EP "To Find A Better Tomorrow", the band goes out on tour to play in the venues nationwide, as well as in the domestic major festivals such as "RUSH BALL 09", and "LOUD PARK 09". Band's participation to play in festivals has also become global, as they were discovered by Seo Taiji and was invited to play in "ETPFEST 2009 @ Seoul Olympic Stadium" held in Korea, where they shared the stage with KEANE, NINE INCH NAILS, and Limpbizkit, highly acclaimed by the large audience.
In 2011, fade invites Hajime Okano (sound producer known for works with L'Arc-en-Ciel, etc.) for the first time to work for an album, and releases new 6th EP "Kings of Dawn", and a single "One Reason", an opening theme for a Japanese animation series "Deadman Wonderland", on a the same day. The track ranked 4th in the ORICON indies chart.

fade, featuring the twin guitars and possessing the roots of hard American rock deep inside them, continues to evolve as more emotional and melodious band.
In describing fade, rui says that "we are a California Roll of Rock." fade is a band that has a mixed blend of taste of the east and the west, who originates the roots in Japan and still be loved from the people around the globe, just like the California Roll.

fade is the band born in New York, but their rock sound raised and polished in Japan. And now, to the global stage.
